Assistant to Pastoral Care Pastor

General Expectations:
Shiloh Church Staff members work as a team with other pastors, ministry leaders and volunteers to fulfill the vision and mission of the church. Specific duties and areas of ministry are assigned based on giftedness, passion and abilities. A “Kingdom” eye with an outward focus is critical. We seek to connect people to Jesus, equip them with knowledge and training and set them free to serve the world as God leads.

Position Summary:
This is a part-time position. The Administrative Assistant position reports to the Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor and dotted-line reports to the Pastoral Care Pastor and supports all administrative needs of the Pastoral Care department.  The ideal candidate is detail oriented, courteous, and responsive with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. This ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide administrative support to the Pastoral Care Pastor and the department.
  • Anticipates the needs of the Pastor.
  • Answer phones, email, plans and calendars appointments on behalf of Pastor.
  • Manage department budget.
  • Manage all department events.
  • Respond immediately to all inquiries on behalf of the Pastoral Care Pastor.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and training as needed.
  • Various other duties as assigned.


Skills Required:
 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Show initiative and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • A high degree of responsibility and professionalism.
 

Education and Experience
Associate Degree or commensurate experience. This position requires experience 2+ years in an administrative position. The successful individual must have a proven track record of effective judgment, and above reproach character. This position requires someone with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a multi-ethnic, urban environment with an understanding of the dynamics of this culture.

Sundays 8 AM – 3 PM, Mondays 9 AM – 3 PM, Wednesdays 3 PM – 9 PM, any other days will be at the direction of the Pastoral Care Pastor

Facility Maintenance Worker

Position Summary:
This is a part-time contractor position. The position reports to the Facilities Manager. The Facilities Maintenance position will maintain all church facilities. Responsibilities include working directly with the staff and volunteers, assisting with setup of facilities for church events and building operations. The Facilities Maintenance position will accomplish preventative maintenance on all facilities/equipment, perform needed repairs/service, and procure quotes for large repairs/remodels, monitor/assist contractors, architects, and volunteers making sure necessary tasks are accomplished. The Facilities Maintenance position is largely unsupervised and requires self-motivation, accountability for time and expenses, and integrity. While maintenance personnel are not expected to perform at super-human levels, they should put forth a reasonable effort in doing their job. Also, maintenance personnel should constantly look for small projects and repairs without being instructed or informed. Much of their work should result from routine checking.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for maintenance in the following areas:
  • Church Sanctuary, Offices and Hallways.
  • Exchange House.
  • Trailer.
  • Gym.
  • All Classrooms & Bathrooms.
  • Parking lots.
  • Playground.
  • Church equipment.
  • All church-owned grounds.
 

Responsible for ongoing and scheduled maintenance work in buildings and grounds:
  • Maintain a list of repairs needed and repairs completed (work order list).
  • Repairs to doors, windows, cabinets, floors, ceilings, etc.
  • Add touchup paint and make cosmetic repairs.
  • Inspect all church properties weekly.
  • Plumbing repairs.
  • Electrical repairs.
  • Installation projects.
  • Carpentry projects.
  • Painting projects.
  • Cyclical maintenance of HVAC – filter replacement.
  • Maintain records and spreadsheet on all HVAC units for all facilities.
  • Coordinate yearly inspection of fire, and sprinkler system.
  • Be knowledgeable with the security camera system.
  • Work with insurance companies on claims.
  • Operate and maintain the energy management system.
  • Operate and maintain the security door system and hard keys to buildings.
  • Review and update church property and equipment list annually.
  • Change light bulbs throughout all facilities and on grounds.
  • Initiate and maintain a labeling system for all electrical components (breaker panels, outlets, light switches, fire exits, backup batteries, etc.).
  • Projects on playgrounds, fencing, irrigation, etc.
  • Minor tree and branch removal
  • Oversee landscaping
  • Maintain equipment and store in a clean manner
  • Assist office personnel with heavy lifting jobs
  • Assist in set-up and take-down work before and after functions
  • Assist all Pastors, Staff, Ministries and Volunteers whenever possible
  • Other various duties as assigned
